How to edit SRT subtitles
A typo in a subtitle, a name spelled wrong, a line that runs too long: fix it where it plays. Subwave shows each line over the video while you type, and saves a clean SRT file.
Edit in four steps
- Open Subwave and drop your video and its
.srtfile onto the page together. Subwave pairs them by name; it also opens an SRT file on its own. - Find the line. Click it in the list on the right, or type a word in . The video jumps to it and shows it.
- Change the words in the box under the list. The subtitle on the video changes as you type. Ctrl+Enter goes to the next line.
- Save with Ctrl+S. In Chrome and Edge it goes back into the same file; elsewhere it downloads.
Tips
- Ctrl+I, B and U make the selected words italic, bold or underlined.
- Ctrl+H finds and replaces across every line, with whole words or regular expressions.
- Lines that read too fast or run too long are marked in amber; lists them all.
- Everything is kept in your browser as you go: closing the tab by mistake loses nothing.
Private by design. Subwave reads your files where they are and saves to your device. Nothing is uploaded.
