Subwave

Edit subtitles

Fix the words and the timing while they play over the video, then save. Nothing is uploaded; your files never leave this device.

Or drop a video and its .srt file together anywhere on this page. To start new subtitles, open just a video.

Text encoding

This file was not saved as Unicode, so its encoding had to be guessed. Pick the one where the words look right.

What was repaired

The file had a few things players handle differently. Subwave read them like this; saving writes them the standard way.

    Shift times

    Fix sync with two points

Give the right time for a line near the start and one near the end. Every line in between is moved and stretched to match: this fixes subtitles that start late and drift.

    Change the frame rate

For subtitles made for another release of the film: they drift because it runs at another speed.

    Tidy up

      Reading rules

      Subtitle look

How the preview draws the subtitles. SRT has no styling of its own: players use their own look, so this changes nothing in the file.

      Save as

      Problems

      Keyboard shortcuts

In a text field only the Ctrl and Alt shortcuts act, so typing is never interrupted.

      Subwave stopped last time

The last visit ended with an error. Your subtitles were kept in this browser. These details stay on this device; copy them if you want to report it.
